European Elections – Comparing the results between 2014 and 2019

The results show biggest share of the vote according to EU Parliament groups as they were on the inaugural session after each election.

Votes for parties that did not send MEPs not included.

In 2014 the far-right ID group did not exist as they couldn’t amass the required no. of MEPs (they managed in 2015 with some defections).

Necessary caveats:

EP elections are not FPTP or “winner takes it all”, so one should be careful when reading these maps. Some pluralities razor thin.

EP Groups are broad collection of parties and ideological positions inside can vary a lot.
